Pretty good, but I had a little trouble with the lower left corner. I still don't quite get how "sub in a tub" equals OLEO. "Sub" for "substance?"
eye roll of the day: 'sub in a tub'...arggh.
(Vlad, I think it's a substitute, for butter.)
The one that stuck me was "toorder." I was like WTF is that?? Which of course it's two words. duh.
vlad,
i'm with kalisah on the "substitute" thang
dann
kalisah,
the one that still has me scratchin' my noggin is:
34D "half a mo" SEC.
wtf, over?!
dann
The Tutsi and Hutu tribes had a major war in Rwanda during the 90's
It could be that 'mo' is a slangy 'moment', and 'sec' is a 'second' - why that's half of a moment I don't know, but that's the closest I can figure out for that one. Good thing I didn't see that clue until after I finished solving.
Or I'm just completely missing a reference here too, which is always possible.
howard,
i was leanin' in that direction as well... as in... "i'll only be a moment" or "gimme two secs"...
so, now it's official... a 'moment' lasts 'two seconds'?!
dann
douglas,
yes, i was vaguely aware of that. the history of who is which, and why that is rather fascinating. near 85% are hutu... the remainder are tutsi because they were appointed by the dutch to oversee the masses... and were identifiable because they were allowed to own cattle and other livestock... so, they are essentially the same peoples, but class distinction has put them at odds... very strange...
dann
Ok, substitute. I get it.
By the way, "half a mo'" is a fairly common British expression, which I would translate into American as "just a sec."
vlad,
thanks for the 'heads up' on the britishism...
