is today's NYT crossword puzzle commentary not referencing the puzzle in your newspaper? well, in syndication, the sunday puzzle is picked up one week behind, and the daily puzzles run six weeks behind. btw, as of jan. 2007, the puzzle number system indicates the original date of publication in the NYT. (e.g., 1001 = october 1st.)

I was totally stuck until my sports-writing friend helped me get "YAZ" which I never would've got on my own...which led to half-dozen eggs (finally).
